Box: uploading new versions
The version history feature of Box allows us to “overwrite” files while keeping a version history of up to 50 versions per file—indefinitely. This allows us to upload new versions of files, keep old files, yet simultaneously not add to folder clutter.
This version tracking is automatically performed when files of the same name are uploaded and existing files are replaced. However, this can also be done for files of different names, such as with different extensions. In the below example, hx replaces a .WAV audio file with an .MP3 audio file. By using this workflow, we keep the old .WAV file without deleting it, yet also do not add to the number of total files in this folder, thus not cluttering it.
Below is a series of screenshots demonstrating this workflow. If needed, hx can add explanations and annotations along the way at a future date. Please reach out in the meantime if additional clarification is needed. Thank you!
