Posting to specific classes
We can now submit blog posts to the website that are only visible to participants of specific class series. Hope our inaugural group for doing this can be our biweekly English Zoom Series in 2021.
How to set posts to be visible only to certain class series
To make a post visible only to select users, simply set the category of a post to Class Resources and add the tag Class: English Zoom Series 2020-. This can be done in the post editor sidebar. This tag should auto-complete as soon as you type “class” into the field. Here is an example:

In so doing, only users who are specifically part of this class will be able to see the post.
How to add a class member to the corresponding permissions group
In order to see this post, class members must have a registered account on the tongde.us website, and a website administrator must have already added them to the corresponding permissions group. There are two ways of doing this.
Method #1: Easier when you are editing one user at a time
Start by opening the Users section of the WP Admin portal. Then, select the account that you wish to edit permissions for.

Scroll down to the bottom, and find the Permissions Groups box as pictured below. Check the group that you would like to add the user to, and the click the Update User button. That’s it!

Method #2: Easier when editing multiple users at a time
Access the Permissions > Groups screen from the WP Admin portal.

You should then see a screen like the one below.

Select the relevant group. In this case, we click on Class: English Zoom Series (2020-).
Then, as pictured below, search for the user (may filter by username, first name, or last name) and press enter. Search results will display on the left column below. Click on the desired user, click the Select button, and the user will move over to the right column, which displays a list of users currently in the group.

You may add multiple users in this step. After you are done making changes, be sure to click the Update Group button at the top right of the screen.

And that’s it! The Dao relatives added should now be able to see class-specific posts.
How to see class-specific posts as a non-member of the class
The functionality described above is precisely intended to tailor content to Dao relatives in each specific, different class. However, it may be the case that some senior or elder staff relatives would like to see content posted across all classes. There are multiple ways that this can be done:
- All accounts of Administrator or Manager status will be able to see these posts.
- All accounts added to the CLASSES: ALL permissions group (pictured above in Figures 3 & 5) will receive access to view all class-specific posts.
- Accounts and posts can be assigned additional permissions on a case-by-case and as-needed basis. Please consult with Phil for further details if this is the desired approach.
